Colorado gardeners have university learning opportunity

Colorado State University has announced it will distribute gardening tips to those with an interest in yard and greenhouse growing.

The educational facility will offer three programmes of workshops as part of its annual Twilight Garden Series.

Each two-hour class will be held from 18:30 local time on June 2nd, 23rd and July 7th.

The first of the events will feature two talks called Organic Pest Control in Vegetable Gardens and Edibles in Containers.

On June 23rd, attendees will hear Garden Visitors: Birds, Bees and Butterflies, as well as Honeybees – Angels of Agriculture, Native Plants to Attract Bees and Attracting Butterflies to your Garden.

The final instalment of workshops will include Grasses for the Masses, Native Lawns, Ornamental Grasses and Turf Irrigation and Water Audits.

Sponsored by the university‘s department of horticulture and landscape architecture, Colorado State Extension and the city of Fort Collins‘ horticultural programme, entry to the series is available for $10, or $5 for a single event.

The university recently announced it had received a $100,000 grant for health research.
