Garden and greenhouse enthusiasts have been urged to try container gardening as it provides flexibility and can be an excellent source of gifts.
According to news-journalonline.com, a class on the issue was recently held by Florida master gardener Liz Morrison at Washington Oaks Gardens State Park.
The expert gave the news provider a number of tips for starting a container garden, including ensuring that the container has at least one drainage hole.
She advised that growers choose plants carefully, only selecting specimens that are healthy and have no obvious decolouration or diseases.
The location of the container is also important – it should not be placed in a spot that is sunny all day as this could lead to the plants becoming parched.
However, watering should be done carefully so as not to drown the roots, while plant-types with similar hydration and light needs should be grouped together.
