Garden and greenhouse enthusiasts may be familiar with the notion of carrying out certain tasks at different times of the year.
However, FortWayne.com recently looked at the Farmer‘s Almanac, which has been published since the late 18th century, for guidance on the specific dates for doing work in the yard.
The book uses the zodiac to predict the “best days” to do certain things in the garden, with the belief being that some days are more useful than others.
“When the moon is in the appropriate phase and place in the zodiac, it‘s widely believed that activities will be more fruitful or lead to improved results,” it reads, according to the online resource.
An example of the advice is that grass will grow quicker if you mow the lawn on any day between July 11th and 24th.
However, carrying out the same work in the first ten days or the last six days of the month will result in a retardation of growth.
Meanwhile, NorthJersey.com has published a list of garden and greenhouse tips from expert Christine Nelson.
