At this time of year, many gardeners spend time in their home or greenhouse leafing through magazines and catalogues planning how they would like their green space to appear during the warmer months.
According to the Kansas City Star, not much grows in late winter and the time should be used to construct a battle plan for the year ahead.
Johnson County Extension master gardener Pat Friesen explained to the newspaper that, despite the fact that little work can be done outdoors, now is an “exciting time” for growers.
The horticulturalist and her husband are currently planning what to put in the 15 new raised vegetable beds that they were inspired to install after visiting Powell Gardens‘ Heartland Harvest Garden.
“Things are going on all over,” garden designer Janese Reed told the newspaper, adding that it is the planning that keeps her focused on the year ahead.
The Missouri Extension master gardener added that she has been busy in recent weeks researching new plants and reading books by speakers who she plans to go and listen to.
In other news, Mississippi Master Gardeners recently revealed in the Natchez Democrat that it is looking for new members to sign up to its upcoming course.
