The new Hartley Grange Greenhouse is high, wide and handsome!
Classically proportioned outside room gives ambitious gardeners scope to grow.
Whether you are looking for a generously proportioned working greenhouse or an elegant outside room in which to relax and entertain surrounded by fragrant, prized specimens, the new Grange from Hartley Botanic with its distinctive glazed pyramid roof could be the answer.
Compact enough to fit into most small or medium sized gardens, the Grange is nonetheless spacious thanks to its square structure and unusually high pyramid roof which affords a huge expanse of headroom. Its 10’ 10” x 10’ 10” floor space gives the option of deep staging on three sides or a wide central bench with gangways on both flanks.
Alternatively, there is plenty of space for relaxing on garden furniture amongst potted plants.
But it is the space within the dramatic four-sided pyramid roof which will inspire many. Rising from the eaves at 6’ 6” to a height of almost 12’ 6” in the centre, the Grange can over-winter, or permanently house, large Mediterranean or tropical plants and climbers while providing a year-round home for exotics such as bird-of-paradise, large orchids, hibiscus and bougainvillea.
The apex vent mechanism is operated by a specially designed autovent which raises the topmost section of the pyramidal roof at the set temperature to allow air to circulate.
Crowned with a unique and beautiful ball finial in solid cast aluminum, it provides an attractive architectural focal point in the garden. To enhance the climate control options, four large vertical face vents, operated by swing-throws, are built into the side walls.
The structure, which is fixed to a 2’ 4” dwarf brick wall and uniquely anchored right down to the foundations using steel rods, comes in a choice of nine natural powder coated color finishes including olive, forest and light green, stone and light ivory.
The robust, half-glazed aluminum swing door, complete with lock and furniture, is finished in a matching color, as is the ogee aluminum guttering which can discharge directly into one or more water butts.
Just like Hartley’s big estate greenhouses, the Grange has clean, uncluttered lines and an exceptionally spacious interior, made possible by the use of strong, smooth yet light BS1474 aluminum purlins and joists with stainless steel fixings.
Each pane of toughened BS6206 4mm single safety glass is uniquely enclosed in its own individual frame so as to dispense with overlaps and cushioned in thermoplastic rubber, bonded on all four sides to eliminate any glass-toglass or glass-to-metal contact.
It is permanently edge-sealed to withstand severe storms and to give decades of virtually maintenance-free service. You would expect a greenhouse of this quality to last a lifetime and there are enough second and third generation users of period Hartley greenhouses who can vouch for the fact that theirs did.
