*Technical details – Traditional glass is predominantly manufactured by melting the main ingredient (sand) at 1700°C… Melting at this temperature requires a considerable amount of energy, which in turn creates a lot of CO2 emissions. Low Carbon Glass however utilises glass cullet gathered from post consumers, (generally old windows) and then reused in the manufacturing process. Recycled cullet melts at significantly lower temperatures (650-700°C) which in turn results in reducing the CO2 content by c.42%.
